Q: When and how was Eagle Robotics started? |
A: In 2004, Mr. Bill Findley founded Eagle Robotics at Arroyo Grande High School. They entered their first robot "Zippy" in the Sacramento Regional and proceeded to win the "Rookie All Star Award". For more information on team background, Click Here |
Q: Is Eagle Robotics a student run orginization? |
| A: No. However, it is the students who do the designing, fabrication, and marketing of the robot. Mentors supervise the work to maintain safety and provide advice. At each regional event, the Woodie Flowers Award is given to a mentor to show our immense gratitude for all that they do. |
| A: We work five hours a day for six days a week for six weeks to design and fabricate a robot to meet the yearly challenge set by FIRST Robotics. |
Q: What is the Challenge this year? |
BREAKAWAY!
Objectives: Score by kicking soccer balls into goals, then climb a tower, or hang from an already suspended robot at the end of the match for extra points.
Challenges: Obstacles include other robots, tunnels, and oversized speed bumps. |
A: FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) is a world-wide orginization founded by Dean Kamen over two decades ago in order to promote the field of engineering in all ages of students.www.usfirst.org
We are part of FIRST's FRC (First Robotics Competition) for high school age students.

Q: What do the Winners recieve? |
A: There are multiple definitions of "winner". There will be a finalist alliance of three teams, but the highest honor a team can recieve is the Chairmans Award. The Chairmans Award is given to the team that has shown themselves as being great ambassadors of FIRST and all that it stands for.
Other awards include the Gracious Professionalism, Imagery, and the Xerox® Creativity Award which we hve won 4 years in the running. |
